Remember When Democrats Were All About the Capitol Police After Jan. 6? Not Anymore

Author:

Roughly 200 Capitol Police officers are working without pay this weekend to secure the left-wing “No Kings” rally in Washington, D.C.—a protest staged by activists who seem to have no problem taking advantage of the very law enforcement officers keeping them safe.

Saturday marked the 18th day of the government shutdown, a standoff driven by Democrats’ refusal to compromise on basic funding priorities. If the gridlock continues, even more federal employees will go without pay—all because Washington’s political class, particularly on the left, would rather perform for cameras than govern responsibly.

The Senate needs 60 votes to reopen the government, and with only 53 Republicans, Democrats hold the power to end the stalemate—but they refuse to act.

The irony is hard to miss. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has spent decades entrenched in Washington power, yet he’s cheerleading a “No Kings” rally while he himself is one of the few people who could actually get the government running again.

But beyond all of that, remember when Democrats hated all cops except Capitol Police officers following the Jan. 6 riot? Now they don’t even care enough about them to ensure officers get paid…to protect them.
